RELEASE OF SCORES

Release of Scores to Candidates and Dental Schools:

Patient/Manikin Examinations and Dental Hygiene Examinations: Scores  will be reported within 10 days after the candidate’s examination is completed in a given examination time block.

In as much as the opportunity for remediation within the dental school is intended to be a significant feature of the Pre-Graduation Format examination, the individual scores of a candidate shall be released by CITA to the candidate’s dental school to facilitate school remediation efforts when the school has entered into a formal "Confidentiality Agreement" with CITA. Dental schools will receive a printout of each candidate’s scores for every procedure. Candidates whose total score is less than 75 will receive an individual printout with an itemization of their deficiencies. The computer-based examination scores are reported monthly. The manikin-based examinations and the patient-based examinations are reported within 10 days after the date of the candidate’s examination.

A written critique of performance in each clinical examination is furnished to the candidate and the candidate’s school together with the examination score.  No actual examination papers or clinical evaluation forms will be released in order to maintain security of those portions of the examination which are administered multiple times throughout the year at multiple sites.

Release of Scores to Licensing Jurisdictions:

Scores are not released at any time other than to the candidate, the candidate’s dental school pursuant to a "Confidentiality Agreement", CITA and the CITA recognizing jurisdictions, unless written authorization is received from the candidate.

For recognizing jurisdictions: Scores will be automatically reported to all CITA recognizing jurisdictions after candidates complete the entire examination series.

For non-recognizing jurisdictions and for duplicate scores: Scores will be reported upon receipt of a written request signed by the candidate. This form may be obtained by clicking here or contacting the CITA office.  The  request must include the following:

1.      Candidate’s name, mailing address and telephone number

2.      Candidate’s name at time of examination

3.      Candidate’s social security number

4.      Year in which the CITA clinical examination was completed

5.      Address to which the results are to be sent

6.      Certified Check, Cashier's Check or Money order in the sum of $25 per each address to where the scores are to be forwarded

If the candidate wishes to have the Candidate’s Manual sent along with the scores to provide an explanation of scores, the fee is an additional $25.  All fees must be remitted in the form of a cashier’s check or money order. No personal checks will be accepted.  Please access the CITA’ website (www.citaexam.com) or contact the CITA Administrative Office for more information.

It is the candidates’ responsibility to provide a copy of their examination score report to any state in which they are seeking licensure so that State Board can verify the candidates’ scores against their master grade sheet received from CITA.

No scores will be released by telephone or any other source, and calling the CITA Administrative Office will only delay the release of scores.   Any address changes since the time of original application should be provided to the CITA’ Administrative Office.
