Become a CITA Examiner

The Council of Interstate Testing Agencies (CITA) is looking for interested dentists and dental hygienists to assist with its examinations. CITA administers examinations in Alabama, Louisiana, Mississippi, South Carolina, North Carolina and Puerto Rico. The results of the CITA examination are recognized by seventeen (17) states for licensure purposes.

To qualify as an examiner, an examiner must:

be currently licensed to practice dentistry or dental hygiene in the member states of CITA or another licensing jurisdiction.
have been licensed to practice dentistry or dental hygiene for a minimum of five (5) years.
be in good standing with all jurisdictions wherein practitioner is currently or has ever been licensed to practice dentistry or dental hygiene, and must never have been the subject of a disciplinary action, reprimand, or other formal action of any kind whatsoever in any licensing jurisdiction.
be approved by the chief of the examination and/or examination committee
attend and successfully complete all calibration exercises prior to administration of each clinical licensure examination to which the deputy examiner is assigned and successfully complete a Qualifying Test.
not be a salaried employee of the dental or dental hygiene school where the exam is given, or be employed as a full or part time dental or dental hygiene educator, or be compensated for participating in the dental or dental hygiene educational process, except for reimbursement for expenses or a per diem to compensate for time out of full time practice, provided said participating is for not more than one day per week.
provide verification of professional malpractice insurance.

Examiner Calibration Training

Each calibration section has an initial presentation which must be viewed first, and in its entirety before you may move to the next calibration module in that section. For example, you must first view the amalgam preparation module before you can view the amalgam restoration module. The preparation module will have a button beside it which denotes that it can be opened. The restoration module will have a button beside it denoting that it is locked. It will remain locked until you have completed the preparation module. Then the button beside the restoration module will change to “open” and you may then view that module.

You may move forward and backward in each module as you may wish, and as many times as you wish. Please be aware that the computer is recording your movements to determine that you have actually watched the module in its entirety. A record of your viewing is maintained for CITA documentation and as such you will not be required to take a examination upon completion of your review of the module. The controls for moving within the module are located just below the slideshow presentation and should be fairly self explanatory.

To access the calibration exercises you will first click on the link below and it will take you to a login screen. There you will be prompted to enter your LogIn ID (your email address) and your password (your CITA examiner number)
